Job Summary:

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor, Biomedical Engineering to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for the acquisition, design, teaching, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of medical equipment at our University of Miami Health System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision of day-to-day operations within the service areas, ensuring that work performed meets or exceeds established regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Ensure the equipment and maintenance database is accurate, up-to-date, and data is entered in a timely manner.
  • Oversee departmental operational requirements, including the development of work schedules and daily task assignments pertaining to equipment repair and support.
  • Provide supervision and training for Biomedical Engineering personnel, including employee motivation, hiring, discharge, discipline, promotion, performance evaluation, and salary adjustments.
  • Audit work completed by staff and take corrective actions where necessary.
  • Develop, monitor, and control budgets to assure the most cost-effective and efficient operation.
  • Collaborate with other support entities to develop support plans for devices or systems that require multi-disciplinary support.
  • Maintain adequate files and parts inventory for assignments.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulatory agencies, standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
