Job Summary:

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Supervisor, Biomedical Engineering to join our team. As a key member of our biomedical engineering department, you will be responsible for supervising the acquisition, design, teaching, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of medical equipment at the University of Miami Health System.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise day-to-day operations within the service areas, ensuring that work performed meets or exceeds established regulatory agency guidelines.

Provide supervision and training for Biomedical Engineering personnel, including employee motivation, hiring, discharge, discipline, promotion, performance evaluation, and salary adjustments.

Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance of medical equipment; evaluates equipment problems and implements appropriate repairs with minimum supervision while maintaining effective customer relations and customer protocols, as needed.

Audits work completed by staff and takes corrective actions where necessary.

Produces, reviews, and assesses various reports related to work completion, unfinished work, ITM completion rates, and repeat equipment failures.

Provides technical training to other employees and customer personnel in equipment operation and checkout, repairs, preventative maintenance, quality assurance practices, procedures, and documentation.

Requirements:

Associate degree in relevant field

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Knowledge of pertinent regulatory agencies, standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.

Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
