We are seeking a highly skilled Turbomachinery Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Lunar Transportation business unit, you will play a critical role in the development of our Blue Moon lander product lines.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop novel turbine and compressor hardware for future spaceflight systems
- Utilize computational fluid dynamics and finite element analysis expertise for aerodynamic design, primary and secondary flow path design, thermal analysis, and structural analysis of high-speed turbomachines
- Validate CFD models against test data and make recommendations for design changes and future test campaigns
- Collaborate with external parties, including government and commercial entities, to advance the development of turbomachinery systems
- B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field
- 5+ years' experience in high-speed gas turbomachinery design, development, and testing
- Fundamental knowledge of turbomachinery component design and manufacturing
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field
- Experience with turbomachinery specific to gas compression and expansion
- Proficiency with CFD platforms and FEA structural analysis tools
- Experience with aerodynamic tool development and cryogenic fluids
Relocation provided. Interviews will include a technical assessment. Compensation range for CA applicants is $111,690.00-$156,366.00; WA applicants is $111,690.00-$156,366.00. Other site ranges may differ.
