About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our manufacturing organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing new manufacturing processes and improving existing ones to support the production of our rocket engines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing processes and improve existing ones to support the production of rocket engines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new turbomachinery components and manufacturing processes
  • Conduct DFMA and PFMEA studies to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize manufacturing processes
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions and process control measures
  • Interface with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure that hardware and equipment is manufactured, processed, packaged, and delivered properly
  • Support and perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or relevant field)
  • 5+ years of direct turbomachinery manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience in any industry (rocket engines, jet engines, land-based gas turbines, oil and gas, automotive, etc.)
  • Engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing
  • Direct experience manufacturing turbomachinery hardware (i.e. castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, and final acceptance testing of integrated hardware)
  • Proven experience and successful track record developing/starting new manufacturing processes
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
