Primary Duties:

  • Deliver high-quality support for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) across multiple projects.
  • Collaborate within a team environment to manage NGS processes, which includes participating in project meetings, handling biological samples from humans and animals, extracting nucleic acids from various sample types, and performing NGS with different sequencers.
  • Troubleshoot issues throughout the NGS workflow, including nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, sequencing, and data analysis.
  • Conduct essential quality assurance and quality control experiments, utilizing tools such as the Agilent Bioanalyzer, Qubit Fluorospectrometer, and qPCR.
  • Implement technological advancements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Manage data reporting and maintain effective communication with project teams.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and robotics, including liquid handling systems.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills, presentation abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Engage with senior personnel as required.
  • Adhere to all principles of data integrity, ethical standards, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and training related to operational activities.

    • RNA Processing
    • Next Generation Sequencing
    • DNA/RNA Isolation
  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proven capacity to learn new protocols, instruments, and technologies.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interpret and respond to requests effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific field with laboratory research experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific field with a minimum of 2 years of laboratory research experience involving cell culture and general lab techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in single-cell sequencing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with library preparation techniques for various sequencing platforms.
  • Knowledge of PCR techniques and DNA/RNA isolation methods.
  • Ability to operate a range of sequencing and robotic platforms (e.g., Illumina, 10X Genomics, Nanostring, Tecan, etc.).

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work in a laboratory setting, requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses).
  • Job pace may be fast, with high demands for task completion.
  • Must be able to remain stationary for more than 25% of the time.
  • Occasional movement between labs and buildings is required, including bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching.
  • May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (with potential for up to 50 pounds).
  • Specific vision abilities required include the ability to observe details at close range, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Occasional operation of computers and office machinery, such as calculators and printers.
  • Handling of hazardous waste may be required in accordance with regulations.
  • Potential exposure to laboratory hazards, including extreme temperatures and biological materials.
  • Medical clearance and training may be necessary for working in environments with animal allergens.

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $58,240 to $87,360, with final base pay determined by factors such as internal equity, work location, and individual qualifications.
