Job Title: Corporate Financial Director

Sovereign Consulting Inc., a leading environmental consulting firm, is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Financial Director to join its team in Cherry Hill, NJ. This role will provide strategic financial leadership and oversight as part of the company's leadership team, driving tactical execution for the finance and accounting department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to reduce costs, minimize taxes, and maximize profits.
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes, ensuring timely and accurate analysis of financial reports and trends.
  • Develop and monitor performance measures that support the company's strategic direction, driving business growth and improvement.
  • Oversee all aspects of corporate accounting and finance operations, including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accounting operations, data entry, payroll, and operating line of credit.
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve financial and accounting processes, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Institute checks, balances, and controls to ensure timeliness and accuracy of all operations, eliminating the risk of fraud.
  • Report financial results to the CEO and COO, and as needed, the executive management team, providing insights and advice to drive business growth.
  • Play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with banks and other sources of capital, arranging for debt and equity financing as needed.
  • Manage Government Contracts, including pricing, contracts, and execution.
  • Oversee the company's transaction processing systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Implement operational best practices, driving continuous improvement and excellence.
Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile, including pricing, contracts, and execution.
  • Ensure government and regulatory compliance of corporate accounting and financial operations, maintaining appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Ensure record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies, reporting risk issues to the executive management team.
  • Maintain relations with external auditors, investigating their findings and recommendations.
  • Assist with negotiating best rates for 401K, health insurance, and other costs.
  • Oversight of contracts management, maintaining cost accounting standards (CAS) based disclosure statements and approved accounting systems as required by the FAR.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate internal controls, measured by current accounting standards/Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and DCAA.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Corporate Controller or progressively responsible experience in financial and accounting operations.
  • Extensive experience with Government Contracting (CPFF, T&M, FFP, and other contract types) is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant qualifications are preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision and/or Deltek Vantagepoint accounting systems is preferred.
  • People management skills with an aptitude and interest in developing the finance and accounting team.
  • High-level written and oral communication skills.
