Job Summary

Compass Group, North America is seeking a skilled Sr. Category Development Manager to support Center of The Plate categories. This role is responsible for executing and strategically overseeing assigned categories, including negotiation, budgeting, forecasting, and aligning customer needs with program requirements.

This position is located in Charlotte, NC and is hybrid, with a requirement to come into the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the financial planning and forecasting process to ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting.
  • Develop category sourcing strategy and recommendations in conjunction with key business partners to drive category growth and profitability.
  • Conduct industry analysis to provide proactive insights and develop a 3-year category strategy that aligns with business objectives.
  • Partner with the Sourcing team to support negotiating and executing preferred supplier contracts that meet customer needs and drive cost savings.
  • Provide ongoing trend analysis to seize value-creating opportunities and corrective actions, ensuring continuous improvement and cost savings.
  • Research current state and future needs, analyze market trends, and identify potential suppliers to drive category growth and profitability.
  • Responsible for developing comprehensive strategy reports that provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Identify, design, and execute cost savings projects within assigned categories to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Manage supplier performance, including escalation resolution management, to ensure high-quality products and services.
  • Create and deliver presentations with customer and competitive insights, recommendations, and data-driven analysis to stakeholders.
  • Own required internal processes, including budgeting, contract attributes, benchmarking, pricing, product recommendations, and more.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in supply chain, category, finance, or related field; supplier management experience preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience.
  • Presentation experience and ability to extract insights from complex data sets using advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to influence through direct and indirect teams.
  • Knowledge/experience of budgets and forecasting.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Travel up to 5% annually.
