Job Summary:

The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor - Operations Expert assists the Manager of Mechanical Maintenance in all aspects of the mechanical maintenance of the operations while following all the safety procedures and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the evaluation of the mechanical performance and condition of the operations to identify potential failures and to plan preventative repairs.
  • Schedules and directs union millwrights to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
  • Directs and guides union millwrights with work plans and schedules to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Assists in the planning of large projects and installations to ensure seamless execution and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Assists with the preventative mechanical maintenance schedule to reduce unscheduled delays and increase productivity.
  • Supervises and trains the Union workforce to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Assists in overseeing all planning, preventative maintenance, scheduled repairs, and troubleshooting required to keep the plant in operation.
  • Develops solutions to problems inherent to equipment in the plant, including engineering and implementing changes to improve performance or eliminate problems.
  • Administers and adheres to all NLMK Indiana's policies and procedures, as well as the Union contract.
  • Ensures implementation and adherence of all safety procedures, including but not limited to, lock-out-tag out, personal protective equipment, fall protection, high voltage procedures, etc.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Four-year Mechanical Degree
  • Minimum of five years' experience in mechanical supervision in a Steel Mill environment
