Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Supervisor to join our team at Hentzen Coatings, Inc. as a key member of our Powder Coatings Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work assignments and workforce to ensure optimal manufacturing results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate Powder Department production operations, maintaining product quality, economical production costs, and production schedules consistent with company manufacturing objectives and profit goals.
  • Assist with production scheduling and provide production schedule changes to fulfill shipping commitments and rush orders.
  • Coordinate production operation, employee skill utilization, production hours, and material and workflow and inventory control to ensure timely production of powder coatings.
  • Order production supplies to ensure the timely and cost-effective production of powder coatings.
  • Maintain and/or modify work procedures and production methods to accomplish required production operations.
  • Train employees in production techniques and the use of production equipment, consistent with ISO requirements.
  • Maintain and approve employee time records, utilizing the electronic timekeeping system to ensure accurate time records and timely payment for all hours worked.
  • Monitor and review employee performance and make recommendations to the Production Manager relating to employee status.
  • Responsible for adherence to safety rules by all direct reports, promoting safe work practices, coaching, and any necessary safety training required in addition to that provided by the corporate safety trainer.
  • Analyze and resolve work-related problems and assist Powder Department employees to achieve work goals.
  • Confer with other supervisors and/or members of management to coordinate Powder Department production activities with activities of other departments.
  • Utilize the Business Operating System to report operations completed, materials issued, and other related transactions.
  • Interview, hire, and terminate employees as necessary.
  • Conduct performance reviews on a semi-annual basis.
  • Participate in quality system audits for compliance with ISO and quality standards.
Requirements
  • Preferred education level: Associate's degree or two-year college degree or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience level: Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably chemicals or coatings.
  • Extensive knowledge of Powder Department operations and supervisory techniques preferred.
  • Ability to provide leadership and motivate subordinate personnel to accomplish work goals preferred.
  • Understanding of powder coating formulations.
  • Experience with Production and Laboratory equipment.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system, and other office machinery.
