Position Overview

The Fund Accounting Associate role at Asana Partners presents an exceptional opportunity for a driven accounting professional to engage with a dynamic team within a leading real estate investment firm. This position is integral to our operations, reporting directly to the Manager of Fund Accounting and collaborating closely with senior leadership, including the Chief Financial Officer.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and reviewing quarterly financial statements at the fund level, ensuring adherence to GAAP, ILPA guidelines, and other industry standards.
  • Coordinating monthly closing processes in partnership with the third-party fund administrator and the investment accounting team.
  • Reviewing workpapers, fee calculations, waterfalls, and investor statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Overseeing secured debt quarterly compliance reports.
  • Facilitating annual audits for various investment vehicles.
  • Documenting and maintaining policies and procedures related to financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Collaborating with external tax teams on information requests and data analysis.
  • Managing REIT compliance and acting as a liaison between asset managers and tax consultants.
  • Maintaining quarterly variance reporting at the fund level.
  • Providing support for acquisitions and transactions to the Investments team.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong analytical and technical accounting capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with Yardi and/or Workiva is advantageous.
  • A solid understanding of GAAP and fair value accounting principles.
  • A strong work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • The ability to meet critical deadlines while working independently.
  • A proven track record of maintaining confidentiality.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience in a fast-paced setting with excellent time management skills.
  • Prior experience in commercial real estate or fund accounting is a plus.
  • A willingness to work closely with both internal teams and external vendors.
Experience and Education

The candidate should have:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in public or private accounting.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business field; a Master’s degree or CPA is preferred.
Travel Requirements

Travel for this position is limited.
