Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program within the Virginia Department of Corrections. The successful candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of opioid use and addiction, as well as experience working with Medication Assisted Treatment with antagonist, agonist, and partial agonist substances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with medical services and substance use disorder treatment programs to ensure effective care coordination
  • Partner with other state agencies to advance services specific to treatment options and opioid overdose reversal medications
  • Develop and implement post-release continuum of care planning for inmates/probationers engaging in medication assisted treatment
  • Provide education and training to staff, inmates, and probationers on medication assisted treatment
Requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of opioid use and addiction
  • Experience working with Medication Assisted Treatment with antagonist, agonist, and partial agonist substances
  • Knowledge of criminal justice systems and probationer and parolee populations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to supervise staff and perform coaching as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working experience in the substance use field, specifically with Medication Assisted Treatment providers
  • Eligibility for substance abuse certification through a national or state certification board
  • Working experience in the field of criminal justice
