Job Summary

This role is generally responsible for providing clinical support in an outpatient vascular medical office. The Clinical Support Specialist will collaborate with clinical leadership to provide the best care to vascular patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist as needed with patient care, including:
    • Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention, and assistance during office visits
    • Setting up rooms for patient procedures and ensuring a sterile environment
    • Following accreditation guidelines and documenting as needed
    • Recording patients' vital signs and maintaining provider's notes
    • Ensuring patient medical records are comprehensive and complete
    • Assisting providers during office visits and procedures
  • Assist with daily operations of the clinic and office-based lab, including:
    • Assisting with scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments
    • Maintaining patient medical information, including medical history and health insurance
    • Maintaining orders and stocking supplies
    • Managing office telephone, including answering calls and providing 24-hour call backs to patients as needed
    • Cleaning and sterilization of equipment
    • Proper disposal of medical waste in accordance with facility guidelines
    • Preparing exam rooms and assisting physicians and other clinical staff as needed
    • Providing coverage until practice is closed for the day or last patient has left if after closing hours
    • Maintaining HIPAA guidelines
    • Maintaining compliance databases
    • Completing ad hoc projects as requested

Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and certification as a Medical Assistant
  • BLS certification
  • Proficiency in administrative tasks
  • 1+ year experience in a medical setting, ideally surgical
  • Willingness to be available for local and/or regional assignments as needed
  • Basic understanding of clinical tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional attention to detail
