Clinical Support Associate

Job Summary:
This role focuses on providing professional and non-professional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. The Clinical Support Associate will work under the direction of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and may work under the direction of registered nurses depending on their unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists with any examinations, procedures, tests, treatments that have been taught through formal training.
- Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) in a manner which maintains patient privacy and safety.
- Provides complete hygienic care to patients.
- Applies principles of prevention to maintain skin integrity and skeletal muscular alignment.
- Assists self-care Ostomy patients with pouching and preventative skin care.
- Prepares and administers hot and cold applications.
- Applies supportive appliances.
- Obtains, documents and reconciles allergy and medication lists.
- Collects and prepares specimens and relevant documentation for transportation to off-site laboratory.
- Monitors and replenishes medical supplies.
- Assists with medical, office, or clinical staff with clerical support necessary to ensure efficient practice procedures.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- One (1) year experience in health care or nursing services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent.
- Three (3) years experience in health care or nursing services.
- Successful completion of courses in EKG and Phlebotomy.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting up to 30-35 lbs and turning patients.
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Able to work with detailed, confidential material.
- Computer experience.
- Maintains sensitivity, maturity, and flexibility in coping with difficult situations.
- Able to work with all levels of staff including members of hospital departments, physicians, vendors, patients, and members of the community.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper body mechanics.
