The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's financial strategy and delivering essential business insights, particularly in relation to mergers and acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities- Develops elements of the annual and long-term financial strategies along with forecasts for key stakeholders.
- Evaluates budget and forecast data for precision, rationality, and alignment with strategic goals.
- Oversees assigned FP&A personnel, providing consistent guidance, mentorship, and support to meet business objectives.
- Offers analytical assistance to management, operational teams, corporate divisions, and the board of directors.
- Reviews and reports on consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual performance across operating segments and administrative expenses.
- Suggests strategies for enhancing revenue and profitability.
- Establishes priorities to boost productivity, efficiency, and overall effectiveness.
- Conducts competitive and industry analyses to pinpoint and address the company's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
- Prepares business cases for corporate capital initiatives.
- Performs semi-annual assessments of asset impairments.
- Evaluates lease disclosures for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to corporate policies.
- Engages in analysis and valuation of potential acquisition targets, conducting due diligence and facilitating integration or divestiture processes in support of M&A activities.
- Aids in negotiations regarding M&A terms and conditions.
Important Information: This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, specifically under the Administrative Exemption criteria. The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis collaborates closely with business development, corporate accounting, and legal teams on various initiatives and reports directly to the Vice President of Corporate Finance.
Qualifications and Skills Required- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or Finance, along with 7-10 years of relevant experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and accounting within a large corporate setting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced skills in creating and modifying pivot tables and complex formulas.
- In-depth familiarity with financial planning and reporting software (e.g., Anaplan, CCH Tagetik, PeopleSoft, SAP, Hyperion, Business Objects, Adaptive/Workday, Oracle, IBM, etc.) is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage team members effectively.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Occasional travel may be necessary based on business requirements.
