Job Summary

Talent Software Services is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our team in Norman, OK. This six-month contract position has a strong chance for a long-term extension.

Position Overview

The Environmental Specialist will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our plant's environmental management system, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, promoting pollution prevention and waste reduction, and training employees to reduce the plant's environmental impact. Additionally, the successful candidate will lead cultural change by demonstrating exceptional leadership and engaging employees at all levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage the entire workforce to drive cultural change and achieve environmental performance objectives.
  • Ensure environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as JCI corporate environmental systems.
  • Perform incident investigations using a formal process to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide effective training for environmental programs, including SWP3, SPCC, and RCRA.
  • Evaluate the safety management system and develop continuous improvement plans to improve environmental performance.
  • Develop and implement motivational and incentive programs to promote environmental awareness and enthusiasm.
  • Perform and ensure compliance with industrial hygiene testing and other requirements to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Review planned changes and new equipment installations prior to receipt using the MOC process.
  • Approve or recommend changes in manufacturing and engineering matters that may impact environmental stewardship.
  • Help sustain the corporate environmental management system and collect environmental data to identify root causes of compliance problems and pollution prevention opportunities.
  • Complete and submit applicable environmental reports in a timely fashion.
  • Record and maintain spreadsheets containing paint booth, fin press, and parts washer chemical usage.
  • Assist with the administration, implementation, and compliance with the ISO14001 and 45001 EHS Management System.
  • Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs, including ensuring correct handling, packaging, labeling, storage, and transportation of waste.
  • Coordinate air emission, wastewater, storm water, and waste testing.
  • Investigate environmental processes to reduce waste and support efficient recycling methods.
  • Ensure all environmental impacts and processes are tracked in the Environmental Sustainability and Governance (ESG) platform.
  • Drive Environmental Performance throughout the plant.
Qualifications

A degree in Environmental Science or Occupational Health and Safety is required. 3-5 years of working experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. ASP, CSP, or COSHO certification is also preferred.

Experience in the following fields is required: RCRA, SWP3, PSM, Tier II, Form R, SPCC, Wastewater Discharge permitting and compliance.
