Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive environmental management system, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and promoting pollution prevention and waste reduction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the safety management system for its effectiveness and develop continuous improvement plans to improve performance.
  • Engage the entire workforce to drive cultural change and achieve safety performance objectives and targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and JCI corporate safety systems.
  • Perform incident investigations using a formal process to identify root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
  • Provide effective training for all safety programs, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, fall protection, and hazard communication.
  • Develop and implement motivational and incentive programs to promote a high degree of safety awareness and enthusiasm.
  • Establish, record, and track safety performance metrics, including leading and lagging indicators.
  • Review planned changes and new equipment installations prior to receipt and approve or recommend changes in manufacturing and engineering matters.
  • Train all new employees on plant safety rules and guidelines and work with management to provide a safe attitude, surroundings, and equipment.
  • Assist in managing workers' compensation and reducing costs by working closely with insurance carriers, JCI workers' compensation manager, attorneys, and state authorities.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Industrial or Occupational Health and Safety required.
  • ASP, CSP, or COSHO preferred.
  • 3-5 years of working experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in JHA, MOC, Ergonomics, Crane Safety, ANSI, NFPA, HAZCOM, and HAZWOPER.
