Clinical Nurse II

Schedule: Nightshift, Every third weekend, One major and one minor holiday annually, call time required.
General Summary:
The Clinical Nurse II provides expert nursing care at an intermediate practitioner level, adhering to the principles of patient and family-centered care. This role is pivotal in coordinating care planning with interdisciplinary teams and in mentoring Clinical Nurse I staff.
The nurse independently administers prescribed treatments, medications, and nursing interventions based on thorough assessments and established care plans. Specialized skills may be required depending on the unit assignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meets all expectations of Clinical Nurse I.
- Coaches and mentors Clinical Nurse I in managing patient care and developing comprehensive care plans.
- Initiates and oversees care plans for complex patient groups.
- Recognizes subtle changes in patient conditions and adjusts care plans accordingly.
- Administers treatments and medications safely and independently.
- Acts decisively in emergency situations.
- Organizes and prioritizes workload effectively, especially with higher acuity patients.
- Evaluates patient care and implements changes to achieve desired outcomes.
- Engages in interdisciplinary collaboration to assess patient progress.
- Identifies patient needs for transfer/discharge and involves families in decision-making.
- Seeks learning opportunities and integrates new knowledge into practice.
- Promotes a collaborative environment that supports professional practice and patient safety.
- Demonstrates leadership in problem-solving and goal setting.
- Participates in charge nurse responsibilities and anticipates staffing needs.
- Encourages teamwork and provides constructive feedback to colleagues.
- Adapts to changing unit conditions and demonstrates conflict resolution skills.
- Maintains compliance with safety regulations and participates in safety education programs.
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting, carrying/lifting (up to 50 lbs), pushing/pulling (up to 50 lbs), kneeling, and reaching.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Diploma Program or Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years relevant experience required.
- Licenses: Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license upon hire.
