Position Overview
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Clinical Research Nurse II specializing in Oncology. In this role, the Oncology Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) II will prioritize and advocate for the welfare of patients participating in oncology clinical trials while ensuring adherence to clinical research protocols and compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
The CRN II will operate independently under the general oversight of the Clinical Trials Office Management and the Principal Investigator for specific protocols, ensuring the safe and compliant execution of oncology clinical research while safeguarding patient interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals across various departments and with physicians and advanced practice providers, utilizing the Ambulatory Care Practice Model.
- Conduct comprehensive research screening visits for potential trial participants, including Review of Systems (ROS), baseline and ongoing Adverse Event assessments, and documentation of concomitant medications in the EPIC electronic health record.
- Work closely with investigators and study team members to recruit, enroll, and retain patients in clinical trials, ensuring patient safety and protocol compliance.
- Maintain high-quality source documentation related to research visits, Adverse Events, and Concomitant Medications in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Support and document the Informed Consent process for non-English speaking participants, adhering to institutional and regulatory guidelines.
- Engage in feasibility discussions with CRCs regarding protocol implementation based on institutional capabilities and limitations.
- Provide training and education to Associate CRCs, CRCs, and Senior staff members.
- Ensure timely reporting of Serious Adverse Events and other pertinent information as per regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policy updates, educational sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in oncology research or oncology nursing, with qualifications determined by the Director of Clinical Operations. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and database management, is essential. Strong analytical, interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills are required. Familiarity with the EPIC electronic health record system is preferred.
