Position Overview: The American Academy of Ophthalmology is seeking a qualified individual for a faculty position in the Department of Ophthalmology. This role is open to candidates with an MD degree who hold board certification or are board eligible in ophthalmology, along with a valid Texas Medical License.

Appointment Details: The rank of the appointment will be determined based on the candidate's academic achievements and professional experience. While subspecialty training is appreciated, it is not a prerequisite for this position. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in supervising residents and fellows.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee ophthalmology consultations and manage patients in hospital and emergency department settings;
  2. Supervise general ophthalmology outpatient clinics;
  3. Manage procedures in operating rooms, minor surgery rooms, and laser suites;
  4. Engage in teaching responsibilities for residents and fellows;
  5. Participate in faculty practice activities.

Candidate Considerations: Applications are encouraged from individuals specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology as well as those from various ophthalmologic subspecialties. The Academy is open to considering candidates interested in part-time schedules.
