Research Faculty in Ophthalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly qualified research faculty member to join our team. As a research faculty member, you will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research in ophthalmology, with a focus on retinal degeneration, ocular surface diseases, corneal diseases, and ocular immunology and inflammation.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research in ophthalmology, with a focus on retinal degeneration, ocular surface diseases, corneal diseases, and ocular immunology and inflammation.
  • Develop and implement research projects, including study design, data collection, and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members and researchers to advance our understanding of ophthalmic diseases.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Teach and mentor students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows in ophthalmology research.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in a relevant field.
  • Established track record of sustained NEI/NIH funding as a PI on one or more R01 research grants.
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with other faculty members and researchers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
