Job Summary

To ensure the safety and reliability of Sysco's fleet, we are seeking a skilled Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will assist Fleet Technician II and Fleet Technician III in performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, as well as diagnosing and repairing vehicles to prevent breakdowns on the road.

Responsibilities
  • Learn to perform required inspections and preventive maintenance under the guidance of fleet technicians or managers to maximize the safety, reliability, and cost efficiency of the fleet.
  • Perform FAI/CVI inspections on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, and light-duty vehicles, in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, and light-duty vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle malfunctions, including engine, transmission, and brake system issues.
  • Address driver vehicle inspection report write-ups in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Develop efficiency in Sysco's computer programs and follow procedures for documenting all work performed.
Qualifications
  • Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training or equivalent experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current and valid driver's license (CDL preferred).
  • Basic knowledge and skill of all vehicle systems and components.
  • Basic knowledge and skill in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on all equipment.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.
Working Conditions

The associate will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to wet, hot, and humid conditions. The associate may be required to work non-traditional business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The associate may also be required to travel to other operating companies or the corporate office as business needs dictate.
