About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Back Plant Operator to join our team at Covanta. As a key member of our facility control room, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating and inspecting various power plant systems to ensure the operational effectiveness of our industrial disposal process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and inspect power plant systems in accordance with safety operating procedures, including boilers, air pollution control systems, ash systems, and heavy industrial equipment.
  • Monitor and inspect various boiler plant auxiliary equipment, including pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, mixers, conveyors, turbine generators, and electrical devices.
  • Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, and industrial measuring tools to identify trends and potential equipment disruptions that impact facility operations.
  • Monitor air pollution control equipment and perform various types of material sampling, chemistry testing, and treatment of water as required.
  • Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment, such as cranes, skid steers, loaders, and forklifts.
  • Responsible for maintaining correct levels of refuse-fuel in operations equipment and ensuring appropriate refuse mix in designated pits and areas of operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience operating heavy industrial equipment.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift schedule.

The expected hourly pay rate for this position is $[insert pay rate]. This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account various factors, including experience, ability, and location.
