Job Summary

Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc. is a leading refuse and recycling collection company serving over fifteen municipalities throughout Southern California and employing over 1400 full-time employees. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team in Fontana.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Maintain the general ledger, perform account reconciliations, and ensure compliance with accounting principles and practices.
  • Collaborate with different departments to gather financial data, assist in audits, and ensure that the financial reporting of the company is accurate and timely.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements with supplemental trend schedules and monthly city billings.
  • Analyze monthly variances and provide supporting schedules upon request.
  • Prepare quarterly PPE reconciliation and depreciation adjustments as well as monthly depreciation estimate journal entries.
  • Assist with annual rate updates to city billing and franchise worksheets as well as preparation of year-end audit schedules.
  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts with large volumes of transactions.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and journal entries.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end audit schedules.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve financial reporting and accounting operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong background in financial reporting and general ledger responsibilities.
  • Experience in the recycling and waste industry is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with management and cross-functional teams.
