Position Overview:

  • Oversee patient meal service on designated units, including menu distribution, order collection, tray assembly, and meal delivery and retrieval. Collaborate with the Nursing Department to evaluate patients' dietary requirements and communicate any issues to the Nutrition Services Department. Assist colleagues as needed, fostering teamwork. Respond promptly to ensure timely service and accurate adherence to physician-ordered diets. Familiarity with modified diets and dietary restrictions is essential to guarantee optimal patient care and satisfaction. Responsible for ensuring patient satisfaction on assigned units. Support the department and assist team members to deliver outstanding meal service to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome new patients and provide a brief overview of available services.
  • Distribute menus to patients, addressing any inquiries and offering snacks as permitted by diet orders.
  • Orient patients regarding tray contents during meal delivery and follow up to address any dietary needs.
  • Utilize a collaborative approach with the Nursing Department to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Comply with hospital and departmental policies regarding universal precautions and patient isolation.
  • Exhibit knowledge of modified diets, appropriate condiments, and related dietary restrictions.
  • Communicate any patient-related concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Adhere to facility and departmental safety protocols, including incident reporting. Demonstrate knowledge of hazardous materials and waste management. Participate in disaster drills as required.
  • Exhibit effective communication skills with all team members, patients, and families, including verbal, written, and electronic communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies and respect patients' rights.
  • Strictly follow hospital policies regarding attendance and punctuality.
  • Introduce yourself when interacting with patients, families, visitors, or colleagues, maintaining a friendly demeanor while on duty.
  • Adapt to changes in assignments with a spirit of teamwork and offer assistance to colleagues when needed.
  • Utilize time efficiently to achieve established priorities. Display a positive attitude, address conflicts privately, and treat others with dignity and respect.
  • Accept constructive feedback regarding performance and demonstrate evidence of improvement. Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with policy standards. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:

Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Experience: 0-1 years in the healthcare industry.
