Cardiovascular Technologist - Full Time Position
Summary:
The invasive cardiovascular technologist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by utilizing specialized equipment to conduct procedures that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions. This position prioritizes patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist medical personnel by employing sterile techniques during invasive cardiovascular procedures, including angioplasty. Prepare necessary surgical materials and equipment.
2. Monitor and document the patient's hemodynamic status and ECG, ensuring accurate data entry into the monitoring system and generating comprehensive reports post-procedure.
3. Conduct pre-procedure interviews to gather medical histories, review lab results, educate patients and families, and secure informed consent.
4. Ensure the cath lab is ready for testing by calibrating and performing quality assurance checks on all relevant equipment.
5. Prepare and position patients, connect monitoring devices, perform ECGs, and document all actions in the patient's medical record.
6. Support cardiologists with arterial closure devices and demonstrate proficiency in sheath removal and achieving hemostasis.
7. Serve as a resource for colleagues regarding the operation and troubleshooting of complex medical equipment.
8. Collect and manage data for cardiac catheterization registries.
9. Participate in various tasks, including inventory management, quality improvement initiatives, patient transport, scheduling, initiating IV therapy, and evaluating new medical products.
10. Be available for on-call duties as per the monthly schedule for emergency procedures, including diagnostic and interventional tasks.
11. Meet organizational standards related to quality, service, teamwork, and community engagement.
12. Adhere to all compliance requirements associated with the role.
13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or GED. Basic computer skills and competency in interpreting EKGs and hemodynamic pressure readings. Experience in endovascular, interventional, and diagnostic procedures.
Minimum Experience:
One year.
Credentials:
Required:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Basic Life Support.
Desired:
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred. Familiarity with permanent pacemaker and defibrillator implants is advantageous. EOE, including disability/vets.
