Job Summary

The Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Court Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our court operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our specialty court program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Establish daily work priorities, assign and monitor work of staff, and assist staff in analyzing and resolving problems.
  • Supervision: Supervise reporting staff, identify and assign work, communicate work performance expectations, establish professional development plans, provide training, implement corrective action plans, approve time, and assure appropriate staffing coverage.
  • Training and Development: Ensure the ongoing professional development of case managers, probation officers, and other drug court staff assigned to the program by providing appropriate training and supervision.
  • Grant Writing: Ensure the continued funding of the program by identifying and writing grants or assisting others in the preparation and timely submission of grant proposals.
  • Reporting and Data Management: Maintain the accurate reporting of program data to the Court and Grantors by preparing and submitting timely monthly/quarterly/semi-annual/annual reports and compiling accurate and timely statistical reports.
  • Referral Processing: Ensure that program referrals are effectively processed in a timely manner by coordinating all referrals, obtaining client applications, and reviewing information for acceptance into the program.
  • Treatment Coordination: Effectively coordinate treatment referrals by participating in case conferences with treatment providers regarding clinical findings and ongoing treatment.
  • Client Support: Facilitate participants receiving treatment by evaluating treatment services, maintaining familiarity with new and ongoing community substance abuse programs, and sharing the information with case managers.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Maintain communication with all team members and stakeholders to develop and identify team goals, schedule and participate in team meetings, and research, draft, edit, and present procedures and policies for review and approval.
  • Community Relations: Ensure the continued support of the program services by developing and maintaining positive relationships with community service agencies.
  • Customer Service: Address all telephone, written, and in-person complaints, questions, and issues from a variety of sources.
  • Administrative Support: Facilitate the work of management by performing duties of the case managers and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Master's Degree or Graduate Certification preferred.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience in paid case management, substance abuse treatment services, or mental health services. One (1) year of paid experience as a supervisor or lead worker. Grant writing experience preferred.
  • Skills: Knowledge of grant writing, working with budgets, and preparing reports. Excellent facilitation, presentation, and meeting management skills. Familiarity with legal system procedures and Court Operations and processes preferred. Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to meet and interact with the public and deal courteously and effectively with their questions or problems, seeking assistance when needed.
