Summary

Join our team to support the operation and upkeep of essential water and sewer systems. This role involves the installation, repair, and maintenance of water and sewer lines, ensuring uninterrupted service to our community.

Key Responsibilities

- Respond to notifications regarding water line, meter, or sewer line issues; accurately locate breaks and lines before excavation.
- Utilize locating devices to identify shut-off valves and halt service prior to commencing repairs.
- Cut and fit pipes according to specifications for installation or repair of water or sewer lines; assemble pipe systems and operate necessary cutting tools.
- Adjust water and sewer lines as required for new construction; assist in operating boring machinery.
- Maintain cleanliness around fire hydrants; perform lubrication and painting tasks; conduct flow tests to ensure optimal performance.
- Employ tools such as sling blades and bush axes for clearing utility right-of-ways; assist in facility cleaning as needed.
- Operate various hand and power tools for maintaining utility easements; may include shovels, axes, and power equipment.
- Set up road signage and manage traffic during construction activities.
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
- Assist in the construction of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters; perform tasks such as leveling and mixing cement.
- Be prepared for scheduled weekend, holiday, or after-hours standby duties.
- Undertake additional related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
None required.

Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- DOT Certified Flagger (to be obtained within 6 months of hire).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with departmental operations and procedures.
- Proficiency in operating hand and power tools utilized by the department.
- Capability to lift and transport objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors effectively.
