Overview

A prominent global retailer is in search of a dedicated IT Support Technician to enhance our IT Help Desk Team, focusing on the daily management of the organization’s IT services and operations.

This position plays a crucial role in maintaining Help Desk service standards through Tier 1 support, which encompasses desktop software and hardware, point-of-sale systems, and ERP applications.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support across various platforms operating different operating systems and databases in a 24/7 environment.
  • Efficiently manage help desk tickets, ensuring timely creation, follow-up, and resolution via phone and/or email.
  • Deliver hardware break/fix services both in-person and remotely for distant locations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

A degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience/certifications is preferred, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in supporting a retail organization with a centralized IT Help Desk.

Experience:

  • Fundamental technical knowledge and troubleshooting abilities, including expertise in Microsoft Windows-based PC hardware and software, printers, and networks.
  • Proficiency in imaging PCs.
  • Familiarity with incident management tools and software packages.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with well-developed interpersonal abilities, including diplomacy, tact, and discretion.
  • A collaborative team player with a robust work ethic, high standards, initiative, attention to detail, and a quality orientation.
  • An engaging communication style that conveys a friendly and helpful tone both verbally and in writing.
  • Polished and professional verbal communication, ensuring clarity over the phone when necessary.
  • Clear and concise written communication, adhering to proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Demonstrated active listening skills to gather accurate and detailed information.
  • Ability to comprehend the technical implications of business decisions and requests.
  • Capacity to translate technical jargon into user-friendly language.
  • Skilled at navigating a fast-paced, evolving environment while addressing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with Microsoft-based ERP or Point of Sale applications is advantageous.
  • Willingness to learn and support new applications.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard business hours, including weekends and holidays, as required for Help Desk coverage.
