Role Overview:

The Labor Relations Coordinator plays a crucial role in implementing The Boldt Company's labor relations strategies, policies, and procedures. This position is responsible for managing daily labor relations activities, supporting negotiations for various local agreements, and assisting in national negotiations with labor organizations regarding union practices, benefits, salaries, and grievances.

As a member of the Human Resources team, this role reports directly to the Labor Relations department and collaborates with HR colleagues to represent craft operations effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster positive work relationships and create a supportive environment for craft personnel.
  • Collect, monitor, and report on craft metrics, IRA tracking, and other required data points.
  • Analyze weekly accruals to ensure that fringe benefits align with actual payouts, implementing process improvements for data accuracy.
  • Conduct research and analyze data to assess risk implications for potential construction projects.
  • Evaluate labor demand and availability, identifying gaps and proposing innovative solutions to address labor shortages, including researching labor laws and economic data.
  • Quickly resolve issues with unions, payroll, and project teams to minimize risks of legal action.
  • Manage and input union labor rates for potential construction sites while collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Engage with business agents and union representatives to gather information for the Labor Relations team.
  • Support the collective bargaining process and ensure proper administration of labor agreements, including PLAs, CBAs, and National Agreements.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience is required; a Bachelor's degree in Labor Relations, Business, Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in labor relations with unionized workforces, including support for labor contract negotiations.
  • Familiarity with union agreements and labor relations in the construction industry is advantageous.
  • Strong written communication skills for summarizing agreements, arbitration cases, and drafting contract language.
  • Proficient in Excel, capable of generating reports to highlight critical metrics.
  • Willingness to travel for business-related activities as required.
  • A valid driver's license may be necessary, and candidates may be subject to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
Work Environment:

This position primarily operates in an office setting, requiring the employee to remain stationary for extended periods. The role involves regular use of office equipment and communication tools. Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds may be necessary.
