Job Description

Miller Electric is seeking a highly skilled Benefits and Compliance Specialist to join our HR team. In this key role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our leave of absence policies are adhered to and leading overall HR compliance efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to leave of absence policies and support risk management efforts.
  • Take the lead on escalated benefits issues, providing support to the divisions and collaborating closely with the corporate benefits team.
  • Provide comprehensive support to all retirees by initiating processes, ensuring consistent communication, and addressing any inquiries.
  • Oversee the campus Wellness Initiative, facilitating communication with the divisions and driving corporate-led efforts by collaborating with division liaisons.
  • Coordinate employee mailing of holiday gift cards.
  • Organize special events, including planning and communication for the annual Miller Electric Children's Christmas Party.
  • Administer the Miller Service Anniversary award process.

Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Monitor compliance with regulations governing time off and pay practices across all states employing our workforce.
  • Collaborate closely with the corporate legal team and divisional HR leaders to ensure adherence to compliance requirements in all U.S. states.
  • Support the immigration and I-9/E-Verify processes for the divisions, ensuring compliance with labor law postings and related regulations.
  • Deliver Workday (HRIS) system support and supply data to the HR teams within each division.
  • Oversee relationships with temporary labor vendors and ensure compliance with contracts.
  • Maintain records for both current and former employees.

Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Technical proficiency in MS Office programs and HR systems, with a strong preference for experience with Workday.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in HR or specialized training.
  • Compliance and leave management experience preferred.
