Summary:
The Healthcare Access Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for patients, physicians, and various hospital departments, facilitating the registration process for both inpatient and outpatient services.

This role is essential in ensuring that patients have seamless access to the Catholic Health System while adhering to the registration, business, and administrative protocols associated with each patient interaction.


Responsibilities:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
+ High School Graduate or Equivalent
+ A minimum of one (1) year of experience in hospital registration or administrative roles (e.g., Medical Assistant, Patient Service Specialist, Secretary, Unit Clerk) within a healthcare environment is required. In the absence of qualified candidates, those with the following criteria may be considered:

+ High School Graduate or Equivalent
+ Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in hospital registration or administrative roles (e.g., Medical Assistant, Patient Service Specialist, Secretary, Unit Clerk) within a healthcare environment is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
+ Familiarity with Medical Terminology, including ICD-9 & ICD-10, and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Codes is preferred.
+ Understanding of Medical Necessity ABN regulations is preferred.
+ Proficient in general office skills, including computer/keyboarding skills, with a typing speed of at least 30 wpm and demonstrated computer proficiency.
+ Knowledge of various insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private/commercial insurance is preferred.
+ Familiarity with eligibility tools such as Healthenet, Omnipro/Connex, EPACES, and other web-based resources is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Physically, the employee must demonstrate sufficient hand and finger dexterity for required keyboarding and word processing tasks.

+ Ability to efficiently maneuver registration equipment is necessary.
