Head of Marketing Growth Strategy
Location: Remote (with occasional travel as necessary)
Position Overview:
As a seasoned marketing executive, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the Venture Business Unit (VBU) portfolio companies in assessing and enhancing their marketing effectiveness from conception to implementation.
The VBU portfolio comprises a diverse and rapidly expanding array of enterprises that have either been acquired or nurtured internally. These organizations vary in scale and developmental stage, with many requiring direct, tactical marketing support across various disciplines. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the entire portfolio, starting with a select group, is fully optimized in its marketing strategies, encompassing brand management, marketing communications, market analysis, product promotion, channel marketing, and lead generation.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Vice President of Growth Operations
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as a Chief Marketing Officer across the VBU portfolio, you will evaluate the marketing capabilities of each unit and proactively identify the most effective strategies for execution. This may involve leveraging existing marketing resources, optimizing current capabilities, performing tasks in-house, or engaging high-quality external partners.
- Adopt a flexible, data-informed marketing approach that is acutely aware of the buyer's journey to drive increased sales.
- Assist in formulating marketing strategies and managing annual budgets for designated VBUs.
- Support M&A due diligence and contribute to the creation of a marketing value enhancement strategy for acquired entities.
- Oversee comprehensive demand generation initiatives (both B2B and B2BC) and aid teams in establishing KPIs to measure impact on organizational objectives. Facilitate execution across a variety of marketing channels, including owned (SEO, website, social media, email), paid (digital and content), and earned (events, public relations) to position VBUs as industry leaders and expand user bases.
- Generate and analyze actionable marketing reports for executives within the VBU portfolio, tracking a comprehensive set of marketing performance metrics.
- Collaborate closely with the marketing team and other departments to share best practices, implement continuous improvements, and maintain effective marketing programs.
- Create and update documentation on marketing processes, policies, and training materials, and assist in onboarding new marketing professionals.
- Partner with sales management to monitor and enhance conversion rates.
- Conduct comparative analyses and reporting across the VBU portfolio and present findings to leadership.
- Lead and mentor a select group of marketing professionals across the VBU portfolio.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven ability to develop and interpret business and product strategies and translate them into actionable marketing plans.
- Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to derive key business and marketing insights through data analysis.
- Extensive experience in lead generation across various channels, particularly in digital environments, ideally in both B2B and B2BC contexts.
- Established network of third-party firms and independent contractors available for support in VBU marketing execution.
- Experience managing marketing budgets, with robust ROI/KPI and full funnel reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in utilizing a diverse range of marketing technology tools.
- 10+ years of experience in marketing.
- Experience in a private equity-backed organization is preferred but not mandatory.
- Bachelor's or MBA degree or equivalent experience.
