Clinical Nutrition Specialist

Objective:
To deliver advanced nutrition-related expertise within the interdisciplinary management of hospitalized patients. This role entails a commitment of 2 days per month, with no weekend obligations.
Position Overview:
The job title and compensation will be determined based on qualifications and adherence to career ladder criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain knowledge of outpatient billing regulations and execute necessary documentation to ensure compliance with client charge regulations.
2. Facilitate educational sessions or CEU opportunities for the multidisciplinary team at the departmental or facility level.
3. Develop a Nutrition Diagnosis and identify Malnutrition through the application of Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment and established criteria for malnutrition identification.
4. Execute order writing in accordance with the Dietitian Delegation Order system protocol.
5. Deliver tailored nutritional education and counseling based on the learning needs and capabilities of patients and families.
6. Exhibit effective communication strategies as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary care team.
7. Mentor and train dietetic students, interns, and support staff, providing constructive feedback for their development and program enhancement.
8. Implement timely interventions as dictated by Nutrition Risk levels and the Plan of Care.
9. Ensure quality patient care for diverse populations utilizing Medical Nutrition Therapy, which includes assessment, goal setting, and care planning.
10. Lead one departmental initiative annually, demonstrating a commitment to evidence-based practices.
11. Serve as the nutrition liaison/expert for assigned units and actively participate in interdisciplinary committees, addressing needs and initiatives for the improvement of the nutrition care process.
12. As needed, demonstrate professional writing skills that are adaptable to various health literacy levels in preparing educational materials, presentations, and other communications.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with a minimum of 2 years of clinical nutrition experience and registration as a dietitian.
OR
Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with at least 1 year of clinical nutrition experience and registration as a dietitian required.

Analytical abilities to accurately assess, plan, and evaluate outcomes. Interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a diverse population and collaborate within a team environment. Strong nutrition education, counseling, and mentoring capabilities. Critical thinking skills for informed decision-making.
