Independent Educational Tutor

POSITION SUMMARY: This role enhances the educational services offered through the Children's Home Network. The Tutor will identify areas of difficulty and provide tailored educational support to foster academic growth. Services will be delivered in a variety of settings, including home, school, or community environments that are convenient for families.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Tutor will arrange consistent sessions for the designated student.
- The Tutor will promote and support engagement with the student's educational institution.
- The Tutor will assist the student in enhancing academic skills, aiming for a 20% improvement in subjects identified as below grade level.
- The Tutor will demonstrate and guide parents in strategies to support their child's educational objectives, including homework assistance and reading development.
- The Tutor will exemplify effective adult-child interactions.
- The Tutor will conduct assessments and utilize standardized academic measures to establish baseline performance in areas needing improvement, such as reading, writing, or mathematics.
- The Tutor will maintain progress notes to document services rendered and advancements in targeted areas.
- The Tutor will perform follow-up assessments to evaluate progress and determine final performance levels in deficient subjects.
- The Tutor will engage in literacy initiatives and summer reading programs.
- The Tutor will participate in monthly quality assurance meetings.
- The Tutor will maintain regular communication with the support team.
- The Tutor will coordinate activities with the support team to meet specific goals outlined in individual support plans.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience: A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with teaching certification and at least two years of experience in an educational setting or two years of direct tutoring experience.
Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver's license and eligibility for insurance coverage as per current provider requirements.
Insurance Coverage Requirements: Must possess Workman's Compensation Insurance or operate as an LLC with a State Exemption from insurance obligations. Professional Liability insurance is recommended but not mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication abilities, and the capacity to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and supervisors. Understanding of the organization's structure, procedures, and policies is essential.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
Annual Training Requirements: Completion of DCF HIPAA Confidentiality and Privacy Practices & Security Training, along with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Modules 1-3, is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate verbally, good hearing (with or without assistive devices), and reasonable accommodations will be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely, read printed materials, and document activities using a computer.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Services will be provided in home, school, or community settings.
