Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Department Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care by maintaining a clean and sterile environment. This role involves inspecting, decontaminating, sterilizing, and assembling surgical instrumentation according to industry standards and regulations. The successful candidate will be accountable for adhering to the policies and procedures of Nemours Children's Health, including those related to patient safety, infection control, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and decontaminate surgical instrumentation to ensure it is free from debris and microorganisms.
  • Operate sterilization equipment to ensure that instruments are properly sterilized.
  • Assemble and package surgical instrumentation for use in the operating room.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Materials Management Department to ensure timely receipt and restocking of materials.
  • Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS), Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) preferred.
