Cardiac Intensive Care Nurse

ROLE SUMMARY
- Provides comprehensive patient care for individuals in the medical, surgical, and cardiovascular units requiring specialized monitoring. Responsible for the operation of sophisticated medical devices, including central lines, arterial lines, multiple intravenous infusions, balloon pumps, Impella devices, and managing patients on ventilatory support or continuous renal replacement therapy. Additionally, delivers care for general medical and surgical patients within the inpatient setting. Capable of evaluating and executing established protocols with minimal oversight. Serves as a clinical mentor and aids in the training of staff. Ensures direct patient care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning. Offers support and direction to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, housekeeping personnel, and dietary staff. Receives guidance from healthcare providers, charge nurses, supervisors, and nursing executives.
EDUCATION
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing Degree Program.
EXPERIENCE
- Required experience in an advanced Medical/Surgical Unit and recent Critical Care Nursing, particularly in cardiovascular surgery.
- Preferred experience with Impella and/or other cardiac balloon pumps and continuous renal replacement therapy.
- 1-2 years of experience in a Cardiac Surgical ICU is strongly preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
- Current RN Licensure in the State of Montana, along with BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Completion of PALS courses within six months of hire and renewal as necessary.
- EPNC and TNCC certifications are preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Proficient in Advanced Nursing Principles and Procedures.
- Ability to utilize basic office equipment, manage multiple IV pumps, and operate advanced medical devices such as arterial lines, invasive lines, cardiac balloon pumps, and chest tubes, as well as care for patients requiring ventilatory support and those on continuous renal replacement therapy.
