Job Summary

The Louisiana SPCA is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Animal Care Shelter Manager to lead our Animal Care and Programs teams. This is a leadership position that requires strong leadership skills, experience in animal shelter management, and a passion for animal welfare.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving programs to reduce animal length of stay and increase live release rates. They will also lead the Animal Care team and collaborate with other teams to deliver high-quality care and services to shelter animals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Animal Care and Programs teams to achieve organizational goals
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve programs to reduce animal length of stay and increase live release rates
  • Collaborate with other teams to deliver high-quality care and services to shelter animals
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage animal populations through pathway planning and data analytics
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
  • 3 years of demonstrated supervisory knowledge, including hiring and recruitment, training, and employee engagement
  • Skilled in mediating disputes, conflicts, and grievances
  • Valid State of Louisiana driver's license
  • Highly competent in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Working Conditions
  • Works in an area with a high noise level
  • Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches
Compensation
  • $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 annually based on experience
