About the Role

H&R Block is seeking a seasoned Enterprise Technology Manager to lead our data strategy and oversee complex data platform environments. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data architectures, databases, and processing systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the design and development of data architectures, databases, and processing systems to meet the organization's dynamic needs.
  • Manage and optimize data pipelines, architectures, and data sets to ensure efficient data flow and processing.
  • Establish and implement data engineering policies, strategies, and procedures that align with the company's goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to transform raw data into actionable insights that drive business decisions.
  • Ensure that all data practices adhere to relevant tax regulations, focusing on data security, privacy, and quality.
  • Lead and participate in evaluating new technologies and recommending solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal IT and product teams, providing actionable insights and ensuring smooth transitions when deploying new systems.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, translating technical data into strategic business insights.

What You'll Bring to the Team
  • 8 years of related work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Direct people management experience, including mentoring and managing data engineers
  • Experience with key Azure Data Services, including ADF, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance, and Cosmos DB
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and end-to-end quantitative thinking
  • Proficiency in using Azure Machine Learning to build, deploy, and manage ML models and integrate predictive analytics into business processes
  • Ability to collaborate with IT and product teams, translating technical data into strategic business insights and ensuring smooth transitions when deploying new systems
  • Experience handling multiple projects while meeting project deadlines; project management experience is a plus
  • Ability to develop and maintain key vendor relationships
