Controls Systems Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Controls Systems Engineer to join our team at Wright Technical Services. As a Controls Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, programming, and testing control systems for industrial machinery across various industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new and customize existing PLC programs for discrete manufacturing processes.
- Design and implement control systems for industrial machinery, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Work with Siemens Simatic S7 control platforms, programming and executing PLC controllers using the TIA Portal package.
- Interface PLC controllers/programs with AC and DC drives through industrial networks, mainly Ethernet/IP and Profinet.
- Perform in-house systems tests and troubleshoot problems and errors in control systems.
- Travel to customer sites for installation, debugging, and commissioning of complete automation systems (up to 25% of the year).
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant experience.
- 5+ years' work experience in industrial controls, with a strong focus on PLC programming and automation projects.
- Proficient in Siemens PLC programming and troubleshooting, with experience in hardware and software automation projects development.
- AC variable speed drives configuration and troubleshooting experience, as well as PLC communication protocols experience (Ethernet/IP preferred).
- Ability to set up communication hardware and test designed solutions.
- Experience working in a heavy industry environment, preferably in steel or metals, and experience working for a controls system integrator is a plus.
