About the Job: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform front and back office clerical duties, including collecting patient data, obtaining medical history, and preparing instruments for sterilization.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, verifying medical coverage, and coordinating patient care.
  • Provide basic patient initial screening, intake, and recording of vital signs.
  • Administer medication, document clinical findings, and communicate effectively with healthcare providers.
  • Maintain a sanitary work area, report equipment problems, and order supplies as needed.
  • Ensure quality customer service and adherence to patient safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Program Graduate or 2 years MA experience
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider certification within 30 days
  • Bilingual English and Spanish proficiency (optional)

Working Conditions: This is a full-time position that requires heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 100 pounds occasionally; standing for long periods; and rotating shifts. The ideal candidate must be able to wear personal protective equipment and navigate a fast-paced environment.
