Hearst Television is seeking a dedicated Broadcast Operations Technician to join our dynamic team. This full-time role involves managing the broadcast control room and master control systems, ensuring seamless communication with the news department for optimal newscast execution. The Operations Technician will play a crucial role in supporting both in-house and remote broadcasting efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate technical positions in the control room, including audio console, robotic camera, and production switcher for live and recorded broadcasts.
  • Manage master control operations efficiently.
  • Maintain a keen attention to detail.
  • Ensure uninterrupted on-air operations, including the execution of commercials and programming.
  • Monitor multiple channels to guarantee compliance with regulatory standards and maintain signal quality.
  • Adhere to FCC monitoring and EAS protocols.
  • Observe transmitters and document readings accurately.
  • Maintain program and transmitter logs diligently.
  • Execute, edit, and update automation playlists as necessary.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or transmission issues promptly.
  • Possess basic multimedia computer skills and stay updated with current internet technologies for downloading promotional and commercial materials.
  • Conduct non-linear editing as required.
  • Operate and fine-tune live shots for newscasts using various transmission technologies.
  • Potentially engage in maintenance and repair of broadcast and news equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by TV Engineering Management.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an operations technician in a commercial television environment, with extensive knowledge of diverse broadcast equipment.
  • Relevant military experience will be taken into account.
  • Proficiency in computer operations is essential.
  • A solid foundation in the operation of broadcast television systems and equipment is required.
