Position Overview
Dow's Consumer Solutions production facility is seeking a Senior Production Engineer. This facility is a leading supplier of silicones in various sectors, including advanced construction, automotive, and electronics.

The Senior Production Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, stable, and reliable operation of the Batch Area. This involves leveraging process knowledge and technical expertise to enhance plant operations, swiftly address issues, and facilitate the efficient production of high-quality products. The role emphasizes collaboration with various departments, including Operations, Maintenance, Logistics, R&D, EH&S, and the Tech Center, to identify and implement innovative and sustainable solutions that drive continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the success of the assigned unit.
  • Exhibit courageous leadership by mentoring, questioning, and intervening when necessary, challenging existing norms to enhance operational effectiveness and safety.
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism and behaviors expected in the facility, as actions significantly influence the workplace culture.
  • Apply continuous improvement and financial acumen skills to enhance profitability and cost-effective service.
  • Understand customer requirements and ensure high levels of quality, responsiveness, and reliability.
  • Monitor plant profitability and work to maximize total margins.
  • Continuously improve production costs and EBITDA generation.
  • Establish metrics and management systems to optimize plant value and EBITDA.
  • Earn the respect and trust of the operations team through exceptional problem-solving skills and technical knowledge.
  • Enhance and apply knowledge of plant technology by analyzing historical data and collaborating with subject matter experts.
  • Ensure the Most Effective Technology (MET) is utilized and challenge assumptions when better solutions are available.
  • Collaborate with experts for advanced troubleshooting and improved operational discipline.
  • Identify and document root causes of asset utilization losses.
  • Understand the necessity of specific procedures and maintain a strong presence in the field to emphasize their importance.
  • Review logbooks and alarm histories daily to stay engaged with plant operations.
  • Maintain and analyze daily Key Process Indicators (KPI) to ensure optimal performance.
  • Respond promptly to plant issues and emergencies, acting as a technical expert during unplanned events.
  • Provide leadership and expertise in enhancing plant Raw Material Efficiency, focusing on yield and waste reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with plant operating permits.
  • Contribute to site integration and provide insights for overall system optimization.
Job Information and Working Conditions
  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills, along with a high level of initiative, are essential for success in this role.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse functions and workgroups, particularly with shift and technical operations teams.
  • Willingness to work during off-hours and weekends as required during plant disruptions.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking is acceptable. Preferred fields include Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Material Science/Metallurgical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 2 years of engineering, manufacturing, or related experience is required; 3-5 years is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a chemical production facility is advantageous.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
