Lead Systems Engineer for Space Missions

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to oversee the Mission Systems team, a group dedicated to solving complex challenges in a collaborative environment. Our team values both professional and personal fulfillment, and we are passionate about the innovative projects we undertake.
This leadership role is designed for an experienced systems engineer who will guide teams through the complete program lifecycle, from initial concept through design, requirements development, implementation, and final launch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide systems engineering leadership to technical teams in the development and execution of Requirements, CONOPS, Architecture, and Integration for Space Missions.
- Manage and maintain the Technical Baseline.
- Collaborate with the program chief engineer to ensure alignment and support.
- Plan and oversee the cost, schedule, and technical aspects of the systems engineering team.
- Direct the Architecture and Design team in:
- Conducting technical trade studies to define system architecture.
- Employing Model Based Systems Engineering tools to document system architecture, interfaces, and CONOPS.
- Evaluating technical performance options and their implications.
- Establishing System CONOPS.
- Guide the System Traceability team in:
- Creating a database framework for requirement allocation, tracing, and verification throughout all mission phases.
- Allocating system requirements to lower-level specifications.
- Developing a comprehensive verification plan and strategy.
- Oversee the System Integration & Test team in:
- Defining the System Integration & Test Plan.
- Establishing System Simulator requirements.
- Specifying System STE and GSE requirements.
- Mentoring other systems engineers on the team.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to peers, management, and clients.
- Maintain a consistent and predictable work schedule.
- Foster effective working relationships across departments and business units to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Work Environment:
This role necessitates regular in-person engagement, typically requiring on-site presence five days a week. Occasional travel between company locations may be necessary.
Working Conditions:
Work may be conducted in various settings, including offices, laboratories, production floors, or cleanrooms, and may involve outdoor or remote research environments. Occasional work in production areas requiring protective equipment may be necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced degrees may substitute for years of experience.
- A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is mandatory.
- Proven experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, allocation, change management, and verification and validation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams while meeting cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
Customer Engagement:
Strong knowledge of missions and customer needs across core technology areas is essential. Excellent presentation skills are required for interaction with senior decision-makers and technical audiences.
Compensation:
The full-time salary range for this position is $194,500. Individual salaries are determined by various factors, including business considerations, local market conditions, and candidate qualifications.
