We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to take on the role of Mission Chief Systems Engineer within our esteemed Mission Systems team. This group is composed of dynamic problem solvers who are passionate about their work and the impact it has on our missions.

As a leader in this position, you will have the opportunity to guide teams through the complete program lifecycle, which encompasses concept development, design, requirements gathering, implementation, and launch. Your expertise will be crucial in managing the cost, schedule, risk, and systems engineering aspects of a Space-based System.


Key Responsibilities:

As the Mission Chief Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Provide systems engineering leadership to technical teams, focusing on the development and implementation of Requirements, CONOPS, Architecture, and Integration of Space Missions.
  • Manage and control the Technical Baseline effectively.
  • Collaborate with the program chief engineer to ensure alignment and support.
  • Plan and oversee the cost, schedule, and technical content related to the systems engineering team.
  • Guide the Architecture and Design team in:
    • Conducting technical trades studies to define system architecture.
    • Utilizing Model Based Systems Engineering tools to document system architecture, interfaces, and CONOPS.
    • Evaluating technical performance options and their impacts.
    • Defining System CONOPS.
  • Supervise the System Traceability team in:
    • Creating a database framework for requirement allocation, tracing, and verification.
    • Flowing system requirements to lower-level specifications.
    • Developing a comprehensive verification plan and approach.
  • Lead the System Integration & Test team in:
    • Defining the System Integration & Test Plan.
    • Establishing System Simulator requirements.
    • Specifying System STE and GSE requirements.
  • Mentor junior systems engineers assigned to the team.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to peers, management, and clients.
  • Maintain a consistent and predictable work schedule.
  • Foster effective working relationships across departments and business units to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as required.


Work Environment:
This role necessitates regular in-person engagement, typically requiring on-site work five days a week. Occasional travel and local commuting between company campuses may be necessary.


Working Conditions:
Work may be conducted in various environments, including offices, laboratories, production floors, or cleanrooms. There may be instances where protective equipment is required, and access to facilities may occur in diverse weather conditions.


Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is essential, accompanied by a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience. Higher-level degrees may substitute for years of experience. A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is mandatory.

Demonstrated proficiency in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, allocation, change management, and verification and validation is required. Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives is essential.


Customer Engagement:
Knowledge of missions and customers across core technology areas is vital. Exceptional presentation skills with experience engaging senior decision-makers and technical audiences are necessary.


Compensation:
The full-time salary range for this position is $194,500, subject to various factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and candidate qualifications.
