This role demands a seasoned systems engineer capable of steering a team by managing costs, schedules, risks, and the overall systems engineering for a Space-based System.


The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit is comprised of skilled professionals and leaders who ensure the successful delivery of advanced technologies that meet our clients' mission needs.

Our collaborative teams are committed to fostering innovation, integrity, continuous learning, and effective execution.

Key Responsibilities:


Provide systems engineering leadership to technical teams for the development and execution of Requirements, CONOPS, Architecture, and Integration of Space Missions.

Manage and control the Technical Baseline.
Collaborate with and support the program chief engineer.
Plan and oversee the cost, schedule, and technical aspects associated with the systems engineering team.
Guide the Architecture and Design team in:
Conducting technical trade studies to define system architecture
Employing Model Based Systems Engineering tools and processes to develop and document system architecture, interfaces, and CONOPS
Evaluating technical performance options and their implications
Defining System CONOPS

Supervise the System Traceability team in:
Creating a database framework to allocate, trace, and verify requirements throughout all mission phases
Flowing system requirements to lower-level specifications
Developing the overall verification strategy
Oversee the System Integration & Test team in:
Defining the System Integration & Test Plan
Establishing System Simulator requirements
Specifying System STE and GSE requirements
Mentor junior systems engineers on the team.
Prepare and deliver presentations to peers, management, and clients.
Maintain a consistent and predictable work schedule.
Build and sustain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the organization. Engage appropriately with colleagues to foster a positive and productive work atmosphere.
Perform additional duties as required.

Work Environment:

This position necessitates regular in-person engagement, requiring on-site work five days a week at the primary work location.

Occasional travel and local commuting between company campuses and other locations may be necessary.

Working Conditions:
Work is conducted in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors, or in remote research settings.
May occasionally require work in production areas where protective equipment is mandatory.
Access to various facilities may occur under different weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:


A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical discipline is required, along with 12 or more years of relevant experience.

Each higher-level degree, such as a Master's or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

The degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education.

A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is essential.

Proven experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, allocation, change management, verification, and validation – a self-starter who will take ownership of these activities.

Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives.

Customer Engagement:
Familiarity with missions and clients across core technology areas.
Exceptional presentation skills with experience addressing senior decision-makers and technical audiences.

Compensation Information:
Full-Time Salary Range:
$194,500

Note:
This range is based on market pay structures.

Individual salaries are determined by various factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
