Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a Healthcare Transportation Specialist, you will be essential in facilitating the safe and efficient movement of patients to and from their residences, Day Health Centers, and various community engagements. Your commitment to vehicle safety, patient care, and punctuality will be paramount in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely navigate vehicles, utilizing wheelchair tie-downs and lifts while ensuring patient comfort during transport.
  • Ensure the safety of both patients and vehicles through consistent maintenance checks, pre-trip evaluations, and strict adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Provide reliable and timely transportation for patients, meals, and necessary supplies as per schedule or requests.
  • Collaborate with the care team to support patient care plans, assisting patients during transit and communicating observations effectively.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Transportation Coordinator.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License with an impeccable driving history.
  • Proficiency in operating various vehicle types utilized by our organization, along with basic mechanical understanding.
  • A minimum of one year’s experience working with elderly or frail individuals is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and the ability to engage positively with elderly patients, showcasing mature judgment.
  • Capability to comprehend and execute both verbal and written instructions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Cantonese, or other languages is highly valued.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in transportation services or a related field is highly regarded.

Physical Demands:

  • Capacity to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stoop, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, communicate, listen, and perform repetitive hand and wrist motions.
  • Must possess visual acuity.
  • Ability to lift or move weight within personal physical capabilities, utilizing appropriate lifting devices or seeking assistance when necessary.
