Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a Healthcare Transportation Specialist, you will be integral in providing safe and efficient transportation for patients to and from their residences, health centers, and various community engagements. Your commitment to vehicle safety, patient care, and schedule adherence will be paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate vehicles safely, including the use of wheelchair tie-downs and lifts during patient transport.
  • Ensure the safety of both patients and vehicles through routine maintenance, pre-trip checks, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Deliver timely and secure transportation for patients, meals, and necessary supplies as per the schedule or requests.
  • Assist in implementing patient care plans established by the healthcare team, providing support during transport and communicating observations back to the team.
  • Execute additional tasks as directed by the Transportation Coordinator.

Qualifications Required:

  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License with an impeccable driving record.
  • Capability to operate various vehicle types utilized by the organization and possess basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Preferred experience of at least one year working with elderly or frail individuals.
  • Exhibit flexibility, creativity, and a positive demeanor when interacting with elderly patients, demonstrating sound judgment.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, or other languages are highly desirable.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in transportation services or a related field is advantageous.

Physical Demands:

  • Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stoop, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, hear, and perform repetitive wrist and hand motions.
  • Must possess visual acuity.
  • Ability to lift or move weight within personal physical capabilities, utilizing appropriate lifting devices or seeking assistance when necessary.
