Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Technical Specialist to join our team at the University of Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for demonstrating proficiency in imaging systems, including ultrasound, CT, MRI, and radiation therapy technology. This role requires strong technical skills, as well as excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform as a first-line expert in imaging ultrasound, CT, MRI, and radiation therapy technology.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in preventive maintenance and repairs on minor to complex medical equipment.
  • Maintain UVA medical equipment inventory system.
  • Coordinate and/or perform installation and initial inspections on medical equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety rules, codes, practices, and policies.
  • Mentor and train technical staff.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree or CBET, Microsoft, Medical Device Manufacturer Certification, etc.
  • 5 years relevant experience.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License required.
Physical Demands

The job requires sitting and standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/climbing ladders, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive) and walking (distance: 1 - 2 miles/day). Repetitive motion: computer keyboard and driving/traveling. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids, infectious disease and dust.
