In this essential position, you will lead the creation and execution of dynamic programs aimed at enriching the educational journey of community college students.


Classification Summary:


Under limited supervision, you will design, implement, and oversee a variety of integrated programs and initiatives focused on supporting the recruitment and retention of students from underrepresented groups. You will be responsible for promoting and representing program activities both internally and externally, while also coordinating support services for student participants as needed.


Classification Standard Duties:

Plan, develop, and coordinate student support initiatives, special projects, and other activities aimed at recruiting and retaining students within targeted populations.

Oversee and manage the daily operations of various programs and activities related to this role.

Act as the primary liaison with internal and external stakeholders regarding program activities; represent the programs on local, regional, and national platforms.

Provide and/or coordinate financial aid scholarship distribution, academic advising, career counseling, and related support for students involved in the programs; advocate for students and address daily challenges as they arise.

Manage the collection and analysis of program activity data; develop, write, edit, and present statistical and narrative reports and evaluations.

May develop and implement strategies for identifying and securing funding and resources for program activities, including grant writing and fundraising proposals.

Participate in setting goals and objectives; recommend, implement, and manage methods and procedures to improve operations as appropriate.

Supervise staff, which typically includes making recommendations for hiring, performance evaluations, training, work distribution, and problem resolution. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

Required Experience:
Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties outlined

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE:
Understanding of student recruitment and retention challenges. Familiarity with various recruitment strategies and techniques. Knowledge of targeted recruitment principles and resources. Awareness of student outreach services and activities.

SKILLS:
Proficient in data management and record-keeping

ABILITIES:
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to develop and implement recruitment strategies. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Capability to plan community outreach initiatives. Ability to assess course prerequisites and graduation requirements. Competence in organizing meetings and special events. Knowledge of community outreach practices.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise Peer Mentor Staff
Prepare training materials tailored for peer mentors serving diverse student populations.
Deliver training sessions to Peer Mentor staff.
Plan, coordinate, and execute academic and co-curricular success programs for community college students.
Collaborate with faculty to research and propose methods for assessing and supporting reading skills through embedded tutoring.
Evaluate the effectiveness of embedded tutors and develop a sustainability plan.

Work with division leaders to research and propose tailored delivery methods for English and Math requirements.

Coordinate with the Financial Aid office during recruitment events to provide students with essential information regarding financial aid applications.

Identify and address barriers created by campus policies affecting diverse student populations, collaborating with relevant committees to suggest improvements.

Collaborate with the team to create and continuously update a resource toolbox for students.

Develop a sustainability plan for the resource toolbox.
Ensure that no barriers hinder student completion, utilizing community resources effectively.

Organize and host family engagement events in partnership with local organizations to highlight student success and academic achievements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in designing and implementing effective co-curricular programs.
Familiarity with embedded tutoring systems and academic assessment methods.
