KBR is a leader in Health and Human Performance, and we are currently seeking several Nutritional Specialists to contribute to our Human Performance Optimization Contract supporting the Air Force.
The Nutritional Specialist will offer expert guidance and counseling on dietary practices aimed at improving recovery and maximizing performance for Air Force personnel.
- Executing administrative and clinical responsibilities within their professional scope.
- Delivering nutritional planning, counseling, and documentation based on evidence-backed peer-reviewed research.
- Advising leadership on matters related to nutrition and performance enhancement.
- Operating within their professional scope, which may involve ordering laboratory tests.
- Providing individual and group counseling focused on performance nutrition.
- Designing and implementing nutrition programs for Air Force personnel in various settings.
- Creating nutritional protocols and guidelines for rehabilitation and performance enhancement.
- Collaborating with the Human Performance program Manager and/or Coordinator to introduce new protocols and guidelines.
- Acting as a consultant on dining facility nutrition and serving as a liaison between food services and command.
Supporting other regional Air Force assets as directed by the Human Performance program Manager and/or Coordinator and approved by leadership.
Participating in meetings with other Air Force Human Performance Optimization staff and medical personnel as needed.
- Providing expertise on supplementary nutrition, dietary supplements, and performance-enhancing substances within the Human Performance Optimization program.
- Ensuring the availability of educational materials and sports nutrition supplies.
- Assisting with inventory management and providing input on supply requirements.
- Maintaining safe working conditions for all equipment and facilities under the Dietitian's supervision.
- Keeping records updated as necessary.
- Engaging in ongoing training for members of the Human Performance Staff.
- Attending required training sessions as per guidelines.
Commands will facilitate attendance at necessary conferences or courses to fulfill continuing education requirements for professional certification.
Ensuring 100% compliance with local mandatory training requirements.
Executing administrative tasks, which may include maintaining workload records, participating in educational programs, and engaging in clinical staff quality assurance activities.
Participating in peer reviews as required.
Developing and disseminating training materials as requested by the Human Performance program Manager and/or Coordinator.
Completing additional tasks as assigned by the Human Performance program Manager and/or Coordinator.
Documenting work performed, utilization, encounters, referrals, and all other relevant information in the Military's Electronic Health Record and/or the Human Performance Enterprise-wide database as directed.
Collecting and reporting data as requested by the Human Performance program Manager and/or Coordinator.
Utilizing computers, software, and technologies proficiently as required by the Human Performance program Manager and/or Coordinator.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Level 1 Nutritional Specialist:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)
2+ years of full-time experience as a Nutritional Specialist. - Level 2 Nutritional Specialist:
5+ years of full-time experience as a Nutritional Specialist with tactical, professional, or collegiate athletes.
Master's degree from an accredited program in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
This position requires US Citizenship and may necessitate a Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
National Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential is required.
Current certification in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training.
Current and valid state certification/licensure is mandatory.
May be required to obtain and maintain clinical practice privileges.
Fluent oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
Must be capable of lifting and handling loads and plates up to 25 kilograms.
Must maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) by the American Heart Association; proof of all training/certifications/documentation is required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Prior military experience.
- Certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
